With the long Major League Baseball regular-season finally over, even a 162 game season wasn’t enough for two teams as two AL East rivals will need one more game to decide who plays on and who goes home as the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays will square off in a one-game Wild Card playoff on Tuesday night in prime-time with the betting lines as follow;
Best Orioles Lines: 5Dimes ML (+143) +1.5
Best Blue Jays Lines: MyBookie ML (-160) -1.5
Over/Under: BetOnline 8.5
North of the boarder to the Rogers Centre is where we will go as two all too familiar foes will battle it out one more time… this time with high stakes at their highest. And during the course of the season where the O’s and Jays played 19 times, it was Toronto winning 10 of those meetings.
Toronto will be at home for this one, but in the game of baseball, home field doesn’t mean too much. Just last week, Baltimore took two of three on the Blue Jays own diamond to force a first wild card spot.
This past weekend in what was the final weekend of the baseball season, both teams kept the heat on one another with the Orioles winning two of three over the Yankees, while the Blue Jays did the same to division winner Boston on the road.
With just a one-game playoff to decide it all, let’s take an important look at the pitching matchups for both teams as a pair of right-handers will take to the bump in Chris Tillman for the Orioles versus Marcus Stroman for the Blue Jays.
Tillman was a 16-game winner for his team and chosen to get the ball from manager Buck Showalter, though in a game of this magnitude, any other starter may be summoned upon to come in for relief.
Toronto will hand the ball to Stroman, who with just 9 wins on the season will feel the pressure in this one at home. Stroman has not won a game since August 14. In the month of September, Stroman went 0-5, including a loss to the O’s last Thursday but during his slump recorded a 3.41 ERA.
In short, both hurlers have had their struggles against the opposing team, but come Tuesday is when it matters most. With all arms available to step in if needed, the betting lines are as follow for this all-important contest; MyBookie is favoring TOR (-160 ML) over BAL, with the over/under of 8.5 total game runs scored from BetOnline.
Liking the bats to dominate this matchup, I will favor the OVER of 8.5 total game runs scored as my betting pick.
