#21 Florida Gators (7-1) at #5 Duke Blue Devils (8-1)
December 6, 2016- 9:00 PM ET (TV ESPN) Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Good one pinned in the second game of the Jimmy V Classic in New York on Tuesday night as the No. 21 Florida Gators will do battle against the #5 Duke Blue Devils in a Madison Square Garden showdown that has the following betting lines;
Best Gators Lines: topbet Spread (+6.5) ML “See Live Odds”
Best Blue Devils Lines: MyBookie Spread (-6.5) ML “See Live Odds”
Over/Under: XBet “See Live Odds”
As head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s Duke team will face their first “true”test of the season, coach K will at least have in his disposal two prized freshman recruits in C Marques Bolden and F Jayson Tatum, who after missing the first eight games of the season due to injuries made their collegiate debuts on Friday night in a 94-55 whipping over Maine. The duo five-star recruits got some playing time in that contest with Bolden scoring seven points with five boards, while Tatum added 10 points with eight rebounds.
Now with these two ‘diaper-dandies’ back in the Blue Devil fold, coach K will now be able to expand his rotation deeper from the previous six.
At 8-1, the Blue Devils are plenty loaded with talent once again as Luke Kennard leads the team with 19.4 PPG, followed by Grayson Allen with 17.1, Frank Jackson (15.4) and for good measure, Amile Jefferson is averaging 14.7 with a team-leading 9.8 rebounds per game.
For the Gators, they enter with a 7-1 mark after routing North Florida 91-60 on the road backed behind 58.5 percent shooting from the floor. Florida is a balanced scoring team with sophomore G KeVaughn Allen leading the way and when is comes to playing a team like Duke, it will take a full-effort to pull of the upset.
Florida is in the midst of a five-game losing streak versus non-conference top 5 opponents. The only defeat for the Gators this season has been to No. 9 Gonzaga; a 77-72 setback.
Junior C John Egbunu will seek to use his 6-11, 255 pound size to offset the Blue Devils has he is grabbing down 7.5 rebounds with 2.5 blocks.
This will mark the third NCAA Tournament meeting between these two teams as Florida and Duke have split the previous two.
Meeting for the first time since the 2000 Sweet 16, both teams will be fired-up to get this one going and put on a show in the Big Apple. Taking a look at the betting lines, MyBookie is favoring DUKE (-6.5) points over FLA with an over/under from XBet that is yet to be determined.
Following suit and staying with Duke, I will favor the Blue Devils MINUS the points (-6.5) over Florida for the win as my betting pick.
