Just happy to have made the cut even if means an extra game, Wake Forest head coach Danny Manning says his team is ready to get this going as they will try to earn the right to play on. However, for Kansas State, they have their own plans to be the one to advance. For one of these teams come game’s end, they will move on to play on Friday in Sacramento against the sixth-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats in the South Regional.
Wake Forest (19-13) will be back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010 despite finishing 10th in the SEC, while for Kansas State (20-13), they enjoyed a 20-win season but still faced uncertainty that they would get in. Slated to finish no better than ninth in the Big 12, the Cats surprised the critics with a sixth-place finish.
And for the Wildcats, they faced low expectations of a successful season but accomplishing just that have earned their third NCAA Tournament in five seasons under head coach Bruce Weber.
Taking a look at the scoring leaders for each team, Kansas State is paced by senior forward Wesley Iwundu and his 12.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. For the Demon Deacons, sophomore forward John Collins leads his team with 18.9 points and 9.8 boards per contest.
This will mark the first meeting between these two schools.
And with a chance to keep ‘dancing,’ we can expect a dogfight just as the betting experts predict; MyBookie, our sportsbook for U.S. players has this KSU vs. WAKE matchup (EVEN) with an over/under of 152.0 total game points scored from BetOnline; a number I will play as I will favor the UNDER of 152.0 total game points scored as my betting pick for what will be a good one.
