College Football: MEM vs. UCF
Memphis Tigers (1-0 conf.) at UCF Knights (1-0 conf.)
September 8, 2017- 6:30 PM ET (TV ESPNU) Spectrum Stadium, Orlando, FL
In a game that was needed to be moved up due to Hurricane Irma, the Memphis Tigers and Central Florida Knights will clash under the lights on Friday night in Orlando in an AAC matchup that has the following betting lines from our best sportsbooks;
Best Tigers Lines: BetOnline Spread (+3) ML +150
Best Knights Lines: MyBookie Spread (-3) ML -180
Over/Under: GTBets: 69.5
Despite having to play a day early due to the severity of Irma moving in, we should be treated to an exciting matchup as both teams will open up American Athletic Conference play.
Both teams enter this contest coming off wins in their season opener; Memphis with a 37-29 home win over Louisiana Monroe and the Knights with an easy 61-17 home spanking over Florida Atlantic.
The Tigers have won three out of their last four road games but will have their hands full on the defensive end as they will try to contain a Central Florida offense that piled up 61 points on FIU. One way Memphis will try to slow down the Knights will be to play the clock game with their running attack. In last week’s win, the Tigers ran for 319 yards to just 97 yards passing.
Memphis senior QB Riley Ferguson threw for a mere 97 yards but has eight touchdown passes over his last three games.
Central Florida for their part threw for 439 yards; 360 of it which came from sophomore QB McKenzie Milton. Milton has tossed four touchdowns to one pick. Milton has thrown for five TDs over his last two games and will be a key component for the Knights this season, who are looking to make some noise in the AAC.
The Knights have split their last eight home games but will have plenty of confidence heading in as they have had the number of the Tigers in their previous meetings. Friday will mark the first meeting for these two schools since 2013.
Both offenses are capable of scoring plenty of points but will have to give the edge to the Tigers on the defensive front. For sports betting purposes for our US players, MyBookie is favoring UCF (-3) points over MEM with an over/under of 69.5 total game points scored from GTBets.
In staying with the home team, I will favor the Knights MINUS the points (-3) over the Tigers for the home win to move their record to 2-0 as my best betting pick.
