The Capital One Orange Bowl delivers a good one as the No. 6 Michigan Wolverines will square off against the No. 11 Florida State Seminoles at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami in prime-time on Friday night in a matchup that has the following betting lines;
Best Wolverines Lines: MyBookie Spread (-7) ML -290
Best Seminoles Lines: BetOnline Spread (+7) ML +230
Over/Under: topbet 52.0
Passed over for the four-team College Football Playoffs which take place on Saturday, the Wolverines hopefully have shaken off the disappointment of being shunned as they must look to taking on a Florida State team at 9-3 aiming to cap off a 10-win season with an Orange Bowl win. Michigan (10-2) for their part will be seeking to become the 10th team in school history to win 11 or more games on the year.
A top team most of the season as many people pegged the Wolverines to be one of the four teams to play for a National Championship, it was two heartbreaking defeats that did head coach Jim Harbaugh’s team in from playing for it all as they finished third in the Big Ten East standings.
Under center for the Wolverines will be Wilton Speight, who on the year threw for 2,375 yards with 17 touchdowns to six interceptions.
While the Wolverines do possess a good offense, it was the defense where they made their living often stymieing the opposition as they were second best in the nation allowing 12.5 points per game.. And for this matchup, the Michigan defense will set their sights on Florida State running back Dalvin Cook and redshirt freshman sensation in QB Deondre Francois. Michigan ranked 13th in rushing defense allowing 116.8 yards per game.
In what is expected to be his last collegiate game before declaring for the NFL draft, Cook enters having rushed for 1,620 yards with 18 touchdowns. In his three-year career at Florida State, Cook ranks third in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 4,319 rushing yards. Quarterback Deondre Francois had a huge year throwing for 3,128 yards with 18 touchdowns to just six interceptions in helping lead the Noles to 35.2 points per contest.
Simply put, who will win out between the Michigan defense versus the Florida State offense? Taking a look at the betting lines, MyBookie is favoring MICH (-7) points over FSU with an over/under of 52.0 total game points scored.
Looking for the defenses to be the star in this game, I will favor the UNDER of 52.0 total game points scored as my favorite betting pick for what will be an entertaining matchup.
