Best Falcons Lines: 5Dimes Spread (+3) ML +138
Over/Under: MyBookie 58.0
All the storylines and hype surrounding Super Bowl 51 will finally give way come kickoff at 6:30 PM ET on Fox television as the Falcons will aim to capture their first Lombardi Trophy in franchise history, but standing in their way will be a New England team that knows all too well about winning championships.
Millions across the world will have their eyes on what we can hope will be an exciting and entertaining Super Bowl? Playing in just their second Super Bowl in team history, the Dirty Birds as they are called will be faced with the challenge of trying to outplay the Patriots, a team that is two years removed from their last Super Bowl win.
For head coach Bill Belichick and his Patriots, they will be returning to Houston for the big game where they won it all in SB XXXVIII. And when it comes to Belichick, the experience he brings into the Super Bowl is nearly unmatched as he will be involved in his 10th Super Bowl, with three coming by way as an assistant coach.
But, it doesn’t stop there for the Patriots, who are led by one of the greatest quarterbacks in history in future Hall of Famer Tom Brady, who will be seeking to add another Super Bowl ring to his legacy.
Slight favorites at (-3) points across the board from our sportsbooks, this SB matchup will pit two highly explosive offenses in the Brady-led Pats with 27.6 points per game against the best offense in the league led by Ryan, who orchestrates an offense scoring 33.8 points per game.
Brady and Ryan enter at the top of their game, with Brady throwing for 3,554 yards with 28 touchdowns to just two picks, while Ryan led the world with 4,944 yards passing with 38 touchdowns to seven interceptions.
Each gun-slinger will have their favorite targets in Julian Edelman for New England and Julio Jones for the Falcons. On the ground, the league leader in touchdowns with 18 in LeGarrette Blount with 1,161 yards will look to outpace Atlanta RB Devonta Freeman and his 1,079 yards and 11 touchdowns.
So, with each team loaded with plenty of offense, all the pressure will be on the defenses to make the big play when needed.
What defense will the Falcons throw at New England as Brady has seen it all when it comes to disguises? Getting to Brady with plenty of pressure and creating turnovers will be vital for Atlanta to gain that edge. For New England, how will they fare in slowing down the offensive juggernaut of the Falcons; one key will be to collapse the pocket around Ryan making him uncomfortable.
As the offenses are expected to do their part in putting on a show, this game may simply come down to which defense will do enough to slow down the other? Atlanta’s defense is much improved but will it be enough against a quarterback that has seen it all? New England will face an offense they haven’t come close to seeing all year.
All told, as we take a look at the betting lines, BetOnline is favoring NE (-3) points over ATL, with an over/under of 58.0 total game points scored from MyBookie. Scoring early to gain some confidence will be key for the Falcons, but as I look at that to happen; for betting purposes, I will favor the OVER of 58.0 total game points scored as my betting pick for Super Bowl LI.
