New York Giants (11-5, 4-4 away) at Green Bay Packers (10-6, 6-2 home)
January 8, 2017- 4:40 PM ET (TV FOX) Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI
The second game of NFL Wild Card Sunday promises to be a dozy as the New York Giants will head into Lambeau Field to square off against the Green Bay Packers in an NFC playoff battle that is sure to produce plenty of fireworks with the betting lines as follow;
Best Giants Lines: 5Dimes Spread (+5.5) ML +210
Best Packers Lines: MyBookie Spread (-5.5) ML -250
Over/Under: BetOnline 44.5
In a rematch from Week 5 in the regular-season that saw the Packers get the better of the G-Men with a 23-16 home victory, Green Bay will be seeking yet another win versus a New York team that looks to have history repeat itself. In 2007 and 2011, the Giants lost both regular-season games in Green Bay only to come back when it mattered most to capture the NFC championship.
Come Sunday, both teams will be locked in yet another dogfight with high stakes as the field generals for each team in Eli Manning for the Giants (11-5) and Aaron Rodgers (10-6) for the Packers will aim to outduel one another.
For Manning, he is 2-0 at Lambeau in the postseason, while his counterpart is 2-2 at home. Manning and his Giants find themselves back in the postseason for the first time since 2011.
This year’s version of the Giants has been all about the defense,where they finished second in the NFL allowing 17.8 points per game thanks in large part to a defense that was stifling down the stretch yielding just 10 points or fewer in three of their final four games. For the Packers, Rodgers finally found his deadly form late in the season and after leading his team to four consecutive games of 30-plus points, he saw his Packers finish fourth in the league in scoring with 27.0 points per contest.
After a rough stretch of games that had many in Packer land shaking their heads, Green Bay then ran the table winning their final six games to capture the North Division. Rodgers threw a league-high 40 touchdown passes with 15 of those in the final six games.
One important stat regarding Rodgers was his accuracy where he didn’t throw a pick in his final 245 attempts. And it’s that important stat by Rodgers that may make the difference of overcoming the stout New York defense as MyBookie is favoring GB (-5.5) points over NYG with an over/under of 44.5 total game points scored.
Playing the spread in this one as I am expecting a close one; the Packers to win in the moneyline, but will take the Giants PLUS the points (+5.5) to cover the spread against Green Bay as my betting pick in what will be an entertaining matchup.
