A pair of teams will seek to get back to winning on Wednesday night at the Spectrum Center when the Oklahoma City Thunder will clash against the Charlotte Hornets in a nonconference matchup that has the following betting lines;
Best Thunder Lines: 5Dimes Spread (+2.5) ML +120
Best Hornets Lines: BetOnline Spread (-2) ML “See Live Odds”
Over/Under: MyBookie 208.5
After dropping a 98-94 contest on Monday to Milwaukee, the high-flying Thunder will roll into Charlotte for their only appearance at the Spectrum Center as they will square off against a Hornets squad in the midst of a two-game losing streak.
Sitting in a first-place tie along with Utah in the Northwest Division, Oklahoma City behind the one-man wreaking crew in Russell Westbrook will look to get the better of Charlotte as both teams will be meeting for the first of two meetings this season.
The MVP front-runner in Westbrook continues to put up video game-like numbers as he is averaging a triple-double of 30.9 PPG, 10.4 RPG and 10.5 APG as his Thunder team is scoring 106.0 points per game, while the defense is allowing 104.4 points per game. Westbrook has recorded an NBA-best 16 triple-doubles this season and after being held in check for the most part by the Bucks, Westbrook is expected to bounce back in a big way against the Hornets, who allowed Jimmy Butler of the Bulls to go off for 52 points on Monday
Charlotte for their part will be looking to get off the mat following losses to Cleveland and at Chicago as they have fallen to 19-16 on the season but maintain a one-half game lead on Atlanta in the Southwest Division.
Leading the way for the Hornets is the tandem of PG Kemba Walker and SG Nicolas Batum. Walker leads the team in scoring with 23.0 points per game, while Batum leads in rebounding with 7.6 and assists with 5.9.
As a team, the Hornets are scoring 105.1 points per game, while yielding 103.0 points per contest which should make for a high-scoring contest.
Charlotte will be short-handed come game time as C Cody Zeller is undergoing the league’s concussion protocol and sixth-man Marco Belinelli with his 11.0 PPG with a sprained ankle.
Expecting an entertaining and close matchup, BetOnline is favoring CHA (-2) points over OKC, while 5Dimes is giving the underdog Thunder (+2.5) points.
MyBookie delivers the over/under of 208.5 total game points scored. Looking at both offenses to highlight this game, I will favor the OVER of 208.5 total game points scored as my favorite betting pick.
