Thanks to Mother Nature raising havoc throughout the Midwest, Sunday’s afternoon game has been moved to a late start setting up a prime-time showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium with the betting lines as follow;
Best Steelers Lines: MyBookie Spread (+1.5) ML +110
Best Chiefs Lines: Bovada Spread (-1) ML “See Live Odds”
Over/Under: BetOnline 45.0
In what will be a revenge game for the Chiefs following a 43-14 road blowout back in early October at Heinz Field, the stakes will be a lot higher this time around with the winner advancing to next weekend’s AFC Championship at New England. All seemed lost for the Chiefs after that embarrassing defeat as they fell to 2-2, but soon put it into high gear to win 10 of their remaining 12 games the rest of the way resulting in a West title and with it a No. 2 seed in the AFC.
One thing is for sure and that is Alex Smith and company will be licking their chops in anticipation of getting revenge.
How much of the weather will be a factor remains to be seen as Kansas City enters as a slight favorite, but for the Steelers with longtime veteran QB Ben Roethlisberger at the helm, we can expect him to favor the rush with the way RB Le’Veon Bell is running the ball.
In last week’s 18-point win over Miami, Bell ran for a Pittsburgh postseason record of 167 rushing yards along with two touchdowns. In the KC victory, Bell totaled 144 yards on 18 carries and will be looked upon to help carry the load once more.
Another big weapon at the disposal of Roethlisberger will be standout wide receiver Antonio Brown, who pulled down 1,284 yards on 106 catches with 12 for touchdowns.
Kansas City will counter with dynamic playmaker Tyreek Hill and TE Travis Kelce. The 1-2 punch of Hill and Kelce are the spark-plugs of the Chiefs offense having made up of 45 percent of the offensive yards over the last six games.
The quarterback postseason matchup heavily favors Roethlisberger, who will be making his 19th start to six for Smith.
Smash-mouth football is what we may see in this one as the aerial battle may be severely limited with the freezing rain and ice. Slight favorites as mentioned, Bovada is favoring KC (-1) point over PIT, with MyBookie giving the underdog road Steelers (+1.5) points. BetOnline gives us the over/under at 45.0 total game points scored.
Putting my confidence in the team from Pittsburgh, I will favor the Steelers PLUS the points (+1.5) over Kansas City for the big road victory as my betting pick.
