National Hockey League: Western Conference Finals STL vs. SJ
Game 6- SJ Leads 3-2 St. Louis Blues (49-24-9) at San Jose Sharks (46-30-6)
May 25, 2016- 9:00 PM ET (TV NBCSN) SAP Center, San Jose, CA
In what will be a pivotal Game 6 on Wednesday night at the SAP Center, the San Jose Sharks will take to the ice needing just one win to vault themselves into the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in franchise history as they will square off against the St. Louis Blues in an all-important Western Conference contest that has the following betting lines;
Best Blue Lines: BetOnline ML (+138) Spread +1.5
Best Sharks Lines: BetOnline ML (-153) Spread -1.5
Over/Under: BetPhoenix 5.0
It’s been 25 years since the inception of the Sharks but come Game 6, they will have an opportunity to make franchise history if they can end this series in front of what is expected to be a frenzied Shark Tank.
After dominating the Blues on their own home ice in Game 5 on Monday with a 6-3 victory, San Jose returns home filled with excitement at the prospect of going into a possible clincher, but if there is one thing we learned about the Blues is that they are a resilient bunch.
And it’s that resiliency they will need to put on display yet again if they have any hopes of sending this best-of-7 series to a seventh and deciding game.
St. Louis is expected to go back to Brian Elliott between the pipes in place of Jake Allen, who made the last two starts, but on the offensive end, the Blues will need to get top-scorer Vladimir Tarasenko back on track as there is no tomorrow for St. Louis if they lose.
For veteran Patrick Marleau and his Sharks, the game plan is simple, “stay in the moment” and play their game.
Missing the playoffs last season for the first time since 2003, the Sharks can put that disappointing season along with all the others by simply winning on Wednesday; a win that will not only give San Jose a Western Conference championship but an opportunity to bring Lord Stanley’s Cup to the Bay area.
The tension and sense of urgency will be high for both teams as the Blues will want to stave off elimination and for the Sharks, who want to end it and not chance going back to St. Louis for a winner-take-all Game 7.
Taking a look at the betting lines, BetOnline is favoring SJ (-153 ML) over STL with an over/under of 5.0 total game goals scored. Playing the straight-up bet in this one, I will favor the Sharks in a (-153) moneyline win over St. Louis for the Game 6 victory and series win.
