Men’s Basketball Championship: Final Four SYR vs. UNC
#10 Syracuse Orange (23-13) at #1 North Carolina Tar Heels (32-6)
April 2, 2016- 8:49 PM ET (TV TBS) NRG Stadium, Houston, TX
Game 2 of the college Men’s Basketball Championship Final Four will pit the ‘bracket-busting’ No. 10 seed Syracuse Orange seeking to continue the magic when they square off against the #1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday at NRG Stadium in Houston and for this matchup, here are the following betting lines;
Best Orange Lines: MyBookie Spread (+9.5) ML +420
Best Tar Heels Lines: MyBookie Spread (-9.5) ML -570
Over/Under: MyBookie 144.5
Finishing in nine-place in the ACC with a 9-9 mark and 19-13 overall, many people felt the Orange didn’t deserve to be in the NCAA Tournament (myself included), but once given the invitation, they have taken full advantage of their opportunity with four straight wins to earn their way into a national semifinal clash against fellow ACC opponent and conference champion, North Carolina (32-6), who have looked mighty impressive in slaying opponents in their wake in this tourney.
At stake in what will be their third and most important matchup will be a trip into Monday National Championship as they will face the winner between Villanova and Oklahoma which will precede this game.
In the two previous regular-season games, UNC defeated Syracuse 84-73 on the road and 75-70 in Chapel Hill, which was the start of their current nine-game win streak.
One thing we have learned about this Syracuse team is their “moxy” in their ability to come back from big deficits… just ask No. 1 seed Virginia who seemingly had the game in hand only to fall 68-62 in last week’s Elite Eight.
Fully aware of what the Orange have accomplished, the Tar Heels plan to keep the pressure on Syracuse by doing what they do best and that is run the ball at every chance. And why not as it has worked twice this season already against the disciplined 2/3 zone defense of Syracuse?
North Carolina is the only No. 1 seed in the Final Four and is a team that can score averaging 83.0 points per game, whereas the Orange have been stellar on defense all tournament long.
Something has to give and feeling the Heels in this one, MyBookie is favoring UNC (-9.5) points over SYR with an over/under of 144.5 total game points scored. While I do expect the No. 1 seed Tar Heels to win and advance, I will favor the UNDER of 144.5 total game points scored as my personal pick.
