National Hockey League- Eastern Conference Finals TB vs. PIT
Game 7- Series Tied 3-3 Tampa Bay Lightning (46-31-5) at Pittsburgh Penguins (48-26-8)
May 26, 2016- 8:00 PM ET (TV NBCSN) Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA
With the San Jose Sharks already punching their ticket out of the Western Conference for the Stanley Cup, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins will square off on the Consol Energy Center ice for a “winner-take-all” Game 7 on Thursday night to see who will join them and for this crucial contest, the betting lines are as follow;
Best Lightning Lines: BetOnline ML (+185) Spread +1.5
Best Penguins Lines: BetOnline ML (-206) Spread -1.5
Over/Under: BetPhoenix 5.5
Going as far as they can go in what has been a dogfight of a series, the Bolts and Pens will play one last game to decide the Eastern Conference championship and along with it, a trip to the Stanley Cup Final.
For the visiting resilient Lightning, they will be looking for their second consecutive trip to the Final, while the Pens will be trying to get back for the first time since 2009; the year Pittsburgh lead by a young Sidney Crosby that helped his team to a third Cup in franchise history.
And it’s been the Crosby show the last couple of games as he has poured in the game-winning goal in each of Pittsburgh’s victories. But for the Penguins at home in Game 7, they know it will take a total team effort by way of their depth to take down the Bolts.
Tampa Bay had a golden opportunity to dispose of the Pens at home on Tuesday and close out this series, but were dominated in a 5-2 defeat. Many are surprised by what the Bolts have done this postseason playing the entire playoffs without captain Steven Stamkos and losing Ben Bishop in the first period of the Conference finals opener.
It’s been all about 21-year old goaltender Andrei Vasilevski, who has done his best to keep his team close but will need all the help he can get come Game 7 as the pressure is sure to be off the charts?
As for Tampa Bay, they went into Madison Square Garden last season and took down the New York Rangers 2-0 in Game 7 so they will be used to the pressure of a “do-or-die”game.
Getting on the board will be crucial for either team as the team that scores first is 5-1. The sense of urgency and energy will be off the charts once the puck drops and for this Game 7, BetOnline is favoring PIT (-206 ML) over TB with an over/under of 5.5 total game goals scored from BetPhoenix.
While, I am leaning on the Pens to win outright, for betting purposes, I will favor the UNDER of 5.5 total game goals scored as my Game 7 pick in what is sure to be a thriller.
