#2 Villanova Wildcats (34-5) at #1 North Carolina Tar Heels (33-6)
April 4, 2016- 9:19 PM ET (TV TBS) NRG Stadium, Houston, TX
The time has finally arrived after three exciting weeks of March Madness as it will now come down to a single game in April for the Men’s College National Championship on Monday night at NRG Stadium as the No. 2 seed Villanova Wildcats will seek to outduel the No. 1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels for the right to cut down the nets and for this all or nothing showdown, here are the following betting lines;
Best Wildcats Lines: MyBookie Spread (+2.5) ML +130
Best Tar Heels Lines: MyBookie Spread (-2.5) ML -150
Over/Under: BetAnySports 149.5
Two teams, who to be honest I did not pick as my favorites to be there at the end are indeed are as the Wildcats out of the Big East and winners of the South Region tore apart the No. 2 seed Oklahoma Sooners 95-51 in Final Four, while the Tar Heels out of the ACC, took the Final Four over No. 10 Syracuse 83-66 to set the stage for one final game in all of college men’s basketball.
With five National Championships under their belt, the basketball rich in tradition Tar Heels (33-6) will be seeking to add No. 6 to the Chapel Hill rafters, while the Wildcats will looking for No. 2 to add to their showcase.
Slightly favored across the board with all the major books, the Tar Heels have won 10 consecutive games leading into Monday’s big game, while Villanova (34-5) has surprised many outside of Philadelphia with their performance in the Tourney. Playing well, the Wildcats looked mighty impressive in their spanking over the Sooners where they shot a staggering 71.4 percent for the entire game; the second best shooting performance in Final Four history.
But this is a North Carolina team playing at the top of their game beating Tournament opponents by an average of 16.2 points and will run the ball every chance they get.
Which may make the difference in this contest? The Heels defeated Villanova in the national semifinals in 2009 on their way to winning it all and for this title game, MyBookie is favoring UNC (-2.5) points over NOVA with an over/under of 149.5 total game points scored.
Expect the action to be fierce and back-to-back but in the end, I will favor and pick the Tar Heels MINUS the points (-2.5) over Villanova for the win and team cutting down the nets.
