Men’s Basketball Championship- Final Four NOVA vs. OKLA
#2 Villanova Wildcats (33-5) at Oklahoma Sooners (29-7)
April 2, 2016- 6:09 PM ET (TV TNT) NRG Stadium, Houston, TX
One of the biggest weekends in all of sports has finally arrived as the college Men’s Basketball Championship Final Four will highlight Saturday April 2 with two games scheduled at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas and for the first of these battles, it will be a pair of No. 2 seeds as the Villanova Wildcats and Oklahoma Sooners will tip it off first with the following betting lines;
Best Wildcats Lines: MyBookie Spread (+2) ML +115
Best Sooners Lines: MyBookie Spread (-2) ML -135
Over/Under: MyBookie 144.5
With a crowd of over 70,000 expected to be in attendance for the national semifinal, the Wildcats (33-5) out of the Big East and champions of the East Regional will square off against the Sooners (29-7) out of the Big 12 and champions of the West Regional.
Villanova took down my ‘predicted champion’ the No. 1 top-seed Kansas Jayhawks 64-59 in last week’s Elite Eight, while the Sooners disposed of No. 1 Oregon 80-68.
One thing we know about the Sooners, who are led by All-American Buddy Hield is they love to shoot the rock from deep as they are one of the country’s best 3-point shooting teams; something the Wildcats do pretty well themselves.
And there is one thing we learned about games being played at NRG Stadium; it has not been kind to teams when it comes to making shots from behind the arc as the 12 previous teams in the previous six games in Houston shot a combined 59 shots made out of 214 attempts for a clip of 27.6 percent.
While the Sooners have made 42.8 percent of their 3-point shots, the Wildcats counter with 35.4 percent. We’ll keep our eye on how the rock falls from deep come Saturday as both teams are sure to provide plenty of entertainment as they will battle for the right to move on to the National Championship game on Monday versus the Game 2 winner between Syracuse and North Carolina.
With the stakes incredibly higher, this will pit the second time this season these teams have met with Oklahoma winning 78-55 back in Hawaii on Dec. 7. No doubt a while ago as this will be a different Villanova team we will see on display on Saturday and feeling their chances, the experts over at MyBookie are favoring NOVA (-2) points over OKLA with an over/under of 144.5 total game points scored.
In a game that may come down to the better 3-point shooting team, I will favor the underdog Sooners PLUS the points (+2) over Villanova for the win.
