College Football: Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl- CFP Semifinal
WASH vs. BAMA
#4 Washington Huskies (12-1) at #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (13-0)
December 31, 2016- 3:00 PM ET (TV ESPN) Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA
There are a full slate of games scheduled on New Year’s Eve but the only two that matter will take place in College Football as the first of the CFP Semifinal will begin with the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome; a clash between the No. 4 Washington Huskies and the defending national champion No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide. And as we look into this Saturday afternoon battle, here are the following betting lines;
Best Huskies Lines: Bovada Spread (+14.5) ML “See Live Odds”
Best Crimson Tide Lines: MyBookie Spread (-14) ML “See Live Odds”
Over/Under: BetOnline 52.5
Heavy favorites as expected, the Crimson Tide (13-0) will seek to punch their ticket once more as they will look to earn the right to defend their national crown in the first of two games in the national spotlight. Part of the four-team College Football Playoff for the third straight year and with expectations high once again as the odds-on favorite to win it all, head coach Nick Saban’s goal is to first keep his team focused in what will be a circus-like atmosphere in Atlanta.
Alabama heads in with a 25-game winning streak with two more circled on their calender which in turn means hoisting the most sought after hardware in college football.
For Washington (12-1), winners of the Pac-12 Championship, they will be playing in their most important game since claiming a share of the 1991 national championship when they disposed of the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl.
Not given much chance by anyone outside of the state of Washington, the Huskies know the odds are stacked against them, but also know all the pressure will fall on the heavy favored Crimson Tide.
The Huskies behind sophomores, QB Jake Browning and running back Myles Gaskin will aim to fuel their high-powered offense of 44.5 points on 477.2 yards per game past the nation’s best defense of Alabama; a team that is allowing a mere 11.8 points on 247.8 yards of offense.
Washington is a well-balanced offense that will need to be effective in all facets while limiting their miscues to help keep the potent Alabama defense off-balanced.
However, the Huskies will be challenged on the defensive trying to contain Alabama’s talented freshman QB in Jalen Hurts, the multi-dimensional threat who gets it done with his arm and legs. And it’s because of the explosiveness on both sides of the ball that has MyBookie favoring BAMA (-14) points over WASH, while Bovada is giving the underdog Huskies (+14.5) points.
BetOnline delivers the over/under at 52.5 total game points scored. With no reason to go against the defending champs, I will favor the Huskies MINUS the points (-14) over Washington for the win as my betting pick.
