National Football League: Week 1 ATL vs. PHI
Atlanta Falcons (0-0, 0-0 away) at Philadelphia Eagles (0-0, 0-0 home)
September 6, 2018 8:20 PM ET (TV NBC) Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
The 2018 NFL season will kick it off on September 6 with a rematch of last season’s NFC championship game as the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles will play host to the Atlanta Falcons in contest that has the following lines from our best NFL odds;
The current public NFL consensus is in favor of the Falcons with a +110 moneyline.
Lincoln Financial Field will be rocking come Thursday night in primetime as the Eagles will begin their quest to defend their Super Bowl title in a rematch game from last season in which Philadelphia won 15-10 to advance and win the SB versus the New England Patriots.
Out for revenge in this one, the Falcons have been picked by many to make another deep run in the postseason but will only go as far as QB Matt Ryan can take them.
Not looking impressive in the preseason, that is all expected to change come kickoff as the Falcons are loaded with plenty of offensive weapons in WR Julio Jones and RB Devonta Freeman. Set on the offensive side, it will come down to the Atlanta defense to keep this team well-balanced and ready to make a run.
For the Eagles, they will begin the season with SB MVP Nick Foles under center as Carson Wentz is still not ready to see action. The good news is, however, Foles is more than capable of running the potent Philly offense as we witnessed in last season’s exciting Super Bowl game, but will not have the services of WR Alshon Jeffery, who is dealing with a shoulder injury.
Already having an aggressive defense, the Eagles defensive front become even much better with the addition of Michael Bennett which will make Philadelphia a force providing Foles can hold it down until Wentz returns.
The Eagles are slight favorites at home but the consensus of the public likes the Falcons to pull off the minor upset, but with a dismal 1-8 record straight-up (SU) on the road at Philadelphia, I’m not so sure I agree? MyBookie has this ATL vs. PHI matchup with the Eagles (-2.5) point favorites with Bovada giving the visiting Falcons (+3) points. 5Dimes delivers the Over/Under with 45.0 total game points scored. Staying away from the point spread, I will favor the UNDER of 45.0 total game points scored as my best betting pick feeling both defenses will control the action.
