National Football League: AFC Wild Card Playoff BUF vs. JAX
Buffalo Bills (9-7, 3-5 away) at Jacksonville Jaguars (10-6, 6-2 home)
January 7, 2018- 1:05 PM ET (TV CBS) EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FL
Two “perhaps” unlikely teams that weren’t expected to be in the postseason are just that… in the postseason. Sunday afternoon at EverBank Field, the AFC Wild Card playoffs will continue when the Buffalo Bills pay a visit to do battle against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a matchup that has the following betting lines from our best sportsbooks;
Best Bills Lines: MyBookie Spread (+9) ML +335
Best Jags Lines: 5Dimes Spread (-8.5) ML -420
Over/Under: BetOnline 39.5
Billed as a Cinderella story in the making, the Bills at 9-7 and Jags at 10-6 will square off for the right to move on when both teams take the field in Jacksonville as the Jaguars will host a postseason game for the first time since 1999.
Jacksonville is back in the playoffs since 2007 thanks in large part for capturing their first AFC South Division title, while the Bills are tasting the postseason for the first time since 1999.
Buffalo earned their way to the dance by winning their final game over Miami and earning the sixth seed. For Jacksonville, it’s been a season unlike no other for them after going 17-63 over their previous five.
On paper, however, this matchup looks like a mismatch as the Bills offense is ranked 29th in the league and 30th in sacks allowed; bad news considering the Jags defense is one of the best across the board in the NFL. To make matters worse, Buffalo running back LeSean McCoy may be out of action after suffering an ankle injury in last week’s win over the Dolphins. A two-way threat both running and catching the football, no McCoy would be huge blow to Buffalo’s chances.
Buffalo QB Tyrod Taylor will have the tall task of generating some offense against the stingy Jags.
For Jacksonville, they are led by quarterback Blake Bortles and though the Jaguars lead the league in rushing and are fifth in scoring, the turnover bug has struck the offense of late; an area they will look to eliminate.
This is the postseason where anything can happen and often does; example: Tennessee over Kansas City on the road on Saturday. For sports betting purposes for our US players, 5Dimes is favoring JAX (-8.5) points over BUF, while MyBookie is giving the underdog Bills (+9) points. BetOnline delivers the over/under with 39.5 total game points scored; a number I will play as I will favor the OVER of 39.5 total game points scored as my best betting pick.
