National Football League: Hall of Fame Weekend Game CHI vs. BAL
Chicago Bears vs. Baltimore Ravens August 2, 2018- 8:00 PM ET (TV NBC) Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, Canton, OH
It’s been a long wait since last February’s dramatic Super Bowl, but soon once again, it will be time for the NFL to begin to take center stage; and as always, the National Football League will open up with its annual Hall of Fame game. Getting it started for us in what will kick off the 2018 preseason will feature a matchup between the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens on Thursday August 2 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio in a contest that has the following NFL lines from our best sportsbooks;
As per the norm when it comes to preseason football, don’t expect much in the way of starters getting a lot of playing time as usual it will be a series or two before grabbing a seat on the bench. Thursday’s Hall of Fame game will mark the beginning of the NFL’s 99th season of professional football.
And while the Ravens will be playing in their first HOF game, the Bears will be in their record-tying fifth where they have won the previous four. Chicago last played in the HOF game in 2005.
For the Bears, they will be led by second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who after starting the final 12 games of the season in 2017 will not only be more experienced but have more offensive weapons at his disposal to work with such as receivers Taylor Gabriel, Allen Robinson II and Bennie Fowler to go along with tight end Trey Burton just to name a few.
New head coach Matt Nagy likes what he sees in his offense behind Trubisky, but understands as a whole, his team may have to endure some growing pains as they will try to compete in the NFC Central; a division that is loaded with talented teams in the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.
For the Ravens out of the AFC Central, they will go into the 2018 season with 10-year veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who at 33 years of age will be in the final year of his contract and will be looking for a huge bounce back season after a disappointing 2017 campaign. Focused to get out the gate a lot stronger this time around, Flacco will be saddled with ex-Oakland Raider wide receiver Michael Crabtree, who seeks to make an impact with his new team who will have to deal with division rivals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, and the new-look Cleveland Browns.
As with most preseason games, predicting a winner or which way to bet is often anyone’s guess as the starters see very limited action, but in going to our top-rated sportsbooks in this CHI vs. BAL matchup, MyBookie is favoring the Ravens (-2.5) points over the Bears with BetOnline having an over/under of 33.0 total game points scored. Staying with the “favorites” in this one, I will favor Baltimore MINUS the points (-2.5) over the Bears for the win with the spread as my best betting pick. Football is back!
