After snapping a three game losing streak with a win on Saturday to move their record to 43-21, the LeBron James-led Cavs will now seek the season sweep over a Houston team that has thrown themselves in the mix for a trip to the Finals. Of course, there is still plenty of basketball to be played but these two teams have proven they have the talent to win it all.
For the defending champion Cavaliers, they are on top of the Eastern Conference standings by 2 ½ games over Washington, who have caught fire with five consecutive wins.
Houston for their part at 45-21 have a firm hold on the third-spot in the Western Conference seven games back of Golden State with San Antonio just one-half game back of taking over first-place.
Cleveland and the Rockets are two of the best when it comes to scoring as the Cavs are scoring 110.7 points per game to Houston averaging 115.1 per contest. However, the defenses of each team have a bit to be desired with Cleveland allowing 106.5 to 108.2 for Houston.
This prime-time matchup will also feature a look at two of the leading contenders for league MVP with James bringing in his 26.0 PPG with 8.0 APG to James Harden and his team-leading 28.9 PPG, 7.9 RPG and 11.2 APG.
However, with the Cavs playing and winning on Saturday, it’s possible head coach Tyronn Lue may rest James as well as PG Kyrie Irving?
Houston is just 14-12 since Jan. 11 but know a big time win against the defending champs can do wonders the rest of the way as they will be seeking payback for a Nov. 1 defeat at Cleveland by a 128-120 score.
With forward Kevin Love and center Andrew Bogut out of action as well as the status of James and Irving up in the air, BetOnline is favoring HOU (-5) points over CLE with MyBookie giving the underdog Cavs (+5.5) points.
5Dimes delivers the over/under at 232.0 total game points scored; a number I will play as I will favor the UNDER of 232.0 total game points scored as my betting pick.
