College Football- DUQUES vs. UMASS

Duquesne Dukes (0-0) at Massachusetts Minutemen (0-0) August 25, 2018- 5:30 PM ET (TV E Sports Network) Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium, Amherst, MA

Getting it all started for us on what will be the start of College Football, the Duquesne Dukes and Massachusetts Minutemen will kick things off on Saturday night with a matchup that has the following betting lines from our US sportsbooks;

There is no public College Football consensus on this game yet.

With three straight winning seasons, the Dukes will travel into Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium seeking to pull off a big road upset in a contest where they are expected to be the underdogs once the complete betting odds are determined.

Taking over the quarterback duties for the Dukes will be Brett Brumbaugh as he will move into the starting position. Brumbaugh has limited experience at the college level with just five passes last season but will be surrounded with two quality receivers in Kellon Taylor and Nehari Crawford as well with running back A.J. Hines, who is coming off a 1000 yards on the ground with 10 touchdowns in just nine games.

The defense of the Dukes will will be young as they have lost some key players and will tested off the bat on the road.

For the Minutemen, they will be looking for continued improvement in 2018 season as they are coming off a four win season. In the previous two years, Massachusetts won a combined five games.

The biggest key to the Minutemen’s success will be returning QB Andrew Ford who has thrown for over 5,500 yards with 48 touchdowns over the last two years under center. Already backed with three experienced receivers, Ford will also have running back Marquis Young to open up opposing defenses. Young in his last three seasons has flirted close to 1,000 yards in each.

The Massachusetts defense has some experience in the backfield which will help with a young line upfront.

Gunning for their third consecutive win at home, the Minutemen will need to be ready for a Duquesne team that has won four of their last six on the road. Still awaiting the complete betting lines for this DUQUES vs. UMASS matchup, it will be interesting to see the lines as the Dukes enter with an inexperienced quarterback but anything more than a three touchdown spread for Massachusetts may have me favoring Duquesne to cover as my best betting pick.
