College Basketball: Men’s National Championship
GONZ vs. UNC
#1 Gonzaga Bulldogs (37-1) at #1 North Carolina Tar Heels (32-7)
April 3, 2017- 9:20 PM ET (TV CBS) University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ
After beginning the season in November, we finally come down to this in a winner take all for the Men’s College Basketball Championship as the No. 1 Gonzaga Bulldogs will look to make history when they square off against the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels on Monday night in Glendale, Arizona with the following betting lines from our best sportsbooks;
Best Bulldogs Lines: BetOnline Spread (+1.5) ML +107
Best Tar Heels Lines: 5Dimes Spread (-1.5) ML -120
Over/Under: MyBookie 153.5
Monday’s game will pit two contrasting teams when it comes to winning championships as the “new blood” in the Bulldogs (37-1) will seek to overthrow the “blue blood” Tar Heels (32-7) as the two last teams left standing will play one last game with the victor cutting downs the nets, while hoisting the hardware.
For Gonzaga, after nearly 20 years of flirting with the big boys, they will take their best shot in trying to pull of the upset over a North Carolina team that has been in 20 Final Fours and have won five titles. North Carolina head coach Roy Williams will be seeking his third national title as he will be coaching in his 100th NCAA Tournament.
Williams won it all in 2005 and 2009 but saw his Tar Heels come up short last season to Villanova as the Wildcats won on a last-second shot; a loss that still has to sting that can only be healed by winning it all this time around.
But, make no mistake Gonzaga has established themselves as a powerhouse program in their own right but as they enter as a slight underdog (+1.5) according to our best sportsbooks, the key to them winning it all may rest on using their size to rebound, rebound, rebound?
The twin towers of 7-foot-1, 300-pound senior center Przemek Karnowski and 7-foot freshman Zach Collins will be looked upon to help clean up the boards against what is the best rebounding team in the country in North Carolina.
However, we can expect the Tar Heel’s to try to run every chance they get to offset the size of the Zags. North Carolina is led by the trio of Kennedy Meeks, Justin Jackson and Joel Berry II.
The expectations will be great for North Carolina to produce nothing less than a championship, while for the Zags, can they take one more step to reach the mountaintop? We will soon have our answer and has we go to the betting lines for our U.S. players, 5Dimes is favoring UNC (-1.5) points over GONZ with an over/under of 153.5 total game points scored from MyBookie.
For betting purposes, I will lay my money on the OVER of 153.5 total game points scored as my best sportsbetting pick in what has the makings of being a great one.
