With their MVP quarterback in Aaron Rodgers lost for the season, the Packers will enter their road game as two touchdown underdogs versus a Pittsburgh team that is well ahead in their division.
In what may have been a possible Super Bowl preview to begin the season, the shoulder injury to Rodgers in Week 6 of the season has thrown the Packers into a tailspin as they now stand at 5-5 on the season in the NFC North Division and in danger of being shutout come the postseason.
Relegated to having backup QB Brett Hundley under center, it has been a struggle for the Green Bay offense where they are just 1-3 with Hundley running the offense. The offense behind Hundley hit rock bottom last week at home as they failed to score a single point in a 23-0 defeat. The shutout snapped the Packers’ 175-game scoring streak which was the fifth longest in the NFL.
Making matters worse for the Packers as they desperately need a win, they will have to get it done on the road versus a team that has won five straight and looking to all but wrap up the AFC Central Division.
Adding to that even more, the Steelers are coming off a 40-17 thrashing over the Tennessee Titans last Thursday night. With 10 days to prepare and well-rested, this is a game that can get away from the Packers in a hurry before it’s all said and done.
Pittsburgh during their streak has been getting it done on both sides of the ball where they have offensive weapons in WR Antonio Brown and RB Le’Veon Bell and a defense that has shined.
Green Bay with Hundley at quarterback is scoring just 13.4 points per game and now will be asked to go up against a Pittsburgh defense that hasn’t allowed more than 17 points during the course of their winning streak.
Throw in 34 sacks on the season for the Steelers and we can see why they are favored big over Green Bay. For sports betting purposes for our US players, MyBookie is favoring PIT (-14) points over GB with an over/under of 43.5 total game points scored from BetOnline.
With my complete confidence in the home team to cover, I will favor the Steelers MINUS the points (-14) over Green Bay for the win as my best betting pick.
