College Football: MICH vs. ND
#14 Michigan Wolverines (0-0) at #12 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (0-0)
September 1, 2018- 7:30 PM ET (TV NBC) Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, IN
Almost nothing better than college football in South Bend… and when it’s a big game, even better! Saturday night, the No. 14 Michigan Wolverines and #12 Notre Dame Fighting Irish will clash in a primetime contest that has the following lines from our best College Football odds;
Meeting for the first time since 2014 when the Irish layed a 31-0 whipping on the Wolverines, we should expect a better contest as the oddsmakers from Bovada have this one (EVEN) in a game that is too close to call.
Most schools would be happy with 28 wins in three seasons but when it comes to Michigan, that simply isn’t good enough as the pressure will be on head coach Jim Harbaugh to get into the national championship picture or risk given his walking papers?
The Michigan offense will be led by Ole Miss transfer Shea Patterson, who will be flanked by the running back duo of Chris Evans and Karan Higdon as they look to improve upon last season. The defense was solid last year and should be a force once again behind the trio of LB Devin Bush and pass rushers Chase Winovich and Rashan Gary.
Notre Dame will be seeking their second straight 10-win season since 1992-93 as they will be led by QB Brandon Wimbush. A dual-threat, Wimbush rushed for more than 800 yards while throwing for 16 touchdowns. Wimbush lacks a bit of talent at the receiver position and while he does have RB Dexter Williams behind him, he is suspended for the first three games.
Defensively, the Irish return all but three starters as they ranked 46th in the nation last year. Te’von Coney and his 116 tackles from last season will anchor the defense.
Michigan has captured four of their last five season openers, while Notre Dame has taken five of their last six all making for what should be a great game. For handicapping purposes for this MICH vs. ND matchup from our top-rated sportsbooks, Bovada has this game (EV) with BetNow delivering the Over/Under with 46.5 total game points scored.
Liking what I see on the Michigan side of the ball a bit more as the Irish always seem to disappoint in the big games, I will favor the Wolverines straight-up (-105 ML) as my best betting pick.
