November 18, 2017- 3:30 PM ET (TV NBC) Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame, IN
Saturday afternoon in Week 12 of the College Football season will take us out to Indiana as the Navy Midshipmen will seek to pull off the upset against the No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a matchup on national television that has the following betting lines from our best sportsbooks;
Best Midshipmen Lines: 5Dimes Spread (+18) ML +700
Best Irish Lines: MyBookie Spread (-17.5) ML -1010
Over/Under: Youwager 59.0
After taking one on the chin last week in a 41-8 thrashing by the then-No. 7 Miami Hurricanes on the road to knock them out of the College Football Playoff mix, the Fighting Irish at 8-2 will seek to take that humbling defeat out on the Midshipmen, who at 6-3 have ideas of their own despite being big underdogs going in.
Ranked third in the CFP poll last week, the Canes took it to the Irish on national television perhaps ending any dreams of one of the final four playoff berths? However, another defeat before season’s end may end any hopes of one of the New Year’s Six Bowl appearance.
For Navy who became bowl eligible last week with a thrilling 43-40 victory over SMU, they will head into Notre Dame Stadium with plenty of confidence as both schools will meet for the 91st consecutive time; the longest such streak between intersectional rivalries in all of college football.
And in this rivalry, it had been all Notre Dame dominating for 43 straight years with wins but over the last 10 has seen the Midshipmen take home four wins, including a 28-27 upset victory last season.
A team who makes their living running the ball, expect a heavy dose of the running game from the Midshipmen, who last week rushed the ball 72 times for 559 yards down the throats of SMU! And leading the charge against the Mustangs was Malcolm Perry, who in his debut at quarterback rushed for a career-high 282 yards on 33 carries with four touchdowns.
Countering the Midshipmen will be Notre Dame QB Brandon Wimbush, the dual-threat redshirt sophomore who on the year has accumulated 1,405 yards passing with 663 rushing with 25 touchdowns.
Running back Josh Adams has totaled 1,231 yards rushing with nine touchdowns for the Irish as they rank sixth in the nation with 303 yards per game.
Notre Dame will be a team out for blood after being embarrassed last week and with being at home, we can see why they are a big favorites in this one. For sports betting purposes for our US players, MyBookie is favoring ND (-17.5) points over NAVY, whereas 5Dimes is giving the underdog Midshipmen (+18) points.
BetOnline delivers the over/under with 59.0 points; a number I will play as I will favor the OVER of 59.0 total game points scored as my best betting pick.
