In a rematch of Week 12 of last season in a game won by the Packers 27-13, the Eagles and Green Bay will gear up for their first preseason game of the 2017 season.

Starting with the Eagles, they spent the offseason shoring up of two big needs on both sides of the ball; their wide receiving corp and the cornerback unit. Knowing improvement was needed in those two areas, Philadelphia went out and spent some money on some notable free agents.

Second year man Carson Wentz is expected to be the starting signal caller once again but may get a bit of competition from former Philadelphia starting QB Nick Foles. Notable wide receivers, Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith are expected to be a shot in the arm for the Philly offense… as will RB LeGarrette Blount.

Philadelphia will have their work cut out for them in what will be another competitive NFC East race with the likes of the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.

For the Packers, expectations will be high once again from a team that has seen double-digit wins in all but one season since 2009 under the leadership of veteran QB Aaron Rodgers. Wide receiver Jordy Nelson will be the No. 1 target once again for Rodgers going into the 2017 season.

And, while Rodgers is projected to be an MVP candidate, much of his success in getting the ball away will depend on the offensive line which saw the departure of Pro Bowl guards Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang.

Green Bay will challenged in the NFC Central as the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions will all find themselves in a dogfight.

As per the norm, we may not see much of the starting unit if at all once the whistle blows.

But, in hoping for a competitive game, the sports betting lines for our US players has BetOnline favoring GB (-1) point over PHI with an over/under of 38.5 total game points scored from MyBookie; a number I will play as I expect enough offense to be produced to surpass the total of 38.5 game points scored as my best betting pick.
