In what was an entertaining series opener, the Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors will continue this Western Conference 1st Round series with Game 2 scheduled for Wednesday night at Oracle Arena in a matchup that has the following betting lines from our best sportsbook;
Best Blazers Lines: Bovada Spread (+15) ML +1100
Best Warriors Lines: BetOnline Spread (-13.5) ML -2500
Over/Under: 5Dimes 219.5
Game 1 saw the Warriors pull out a 121-109 home victory over Portland but it didn’t come without a price as team MVP Kevin Durant suffered what it being called a strained left calf; an injury that has him questionable for Game 2. Duran had missed 19 games with a strained knee.
Durant was held out of practice on Tuesday and hopes to be a go come tip-off as he is coming off a 32-point performance in 36 minutes of action.
As for the Blazers heading into Game 2, they will once again be without the services of big-man center Jusuf Nurkic, who has been sidelined with a fractured right leg. Nurkic has been out since the final seven games of the season and though he has been practicing, he will not be ready for Game 2.
Taking some good news from Game 1, the Portland backcourt of CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard easily outscored the Golden State backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, 75-44. McCollum poured in 41 points along with 34 from Lillard with Curry and Thompson scoring 29 and 15 respectively.
However, it was the play of Draymond Green and Durant that made the difference in this one. Green went wild in Game 1 lighting up the scorecard with 19 points, 12 boards, nine dishes, five swats and three steals for good measure.
Regardless if Durant is a go or not, for Portland, it will be “all hands on deck” to come up with a way to beat their biggest nemesis. Golden State swept the Blazers 4-0 on the season and dating back to last year have beaten Portland 11 of the past 12 games.
The series will shift to Portland for Game 3 on Saturday and Game 4 on Monday.
Though, encouraged by their backcourt play, the Blazers will need to a lot more heading into Game 2 where they are huge underdogs. For betting purposes for our US players, BetOnline is favoring GS (-13.5) points over POR, while Bovada is giving the visiting Blazers (+15) points. 5Dimes has the over/under with 219.5 total game points scored.
Playing the points, I will take the Blazers PLUS the points (+15) to cover the spread against the Warriors as my Game 2 betting pick.
