College Football: PVAMU vs. RICE
Prairie View Panthers (0-0) at Rice Owls (0-0) August 25, 2018- 7:00 PM ET (ESPN+) Rice Stadium Houston, TX
Going out to the Lone Star state for a Saturday matchup under the lights, the Prairie View Panthers and Rice Owls will tangle in a college football matchup that has the following betting lines from our US sportsbooks;
There is no current public college football consensus for this game yet.
Coming off a six win season, they Panthers will open on the road where they are carrying a three-game win streak but will be challenged to pull off an upset with limited experience on the offensive end. Quarterback Lavell McCullers will be under center where he threw just 145 passes last year but will be without his top three receivers, as well as losing his leading rusher.
With an offense that has many questions going into 2018, the Panthers will lean on the defense behind playmakers Anthony Stubbs at the linebacker position and safety Reggie Stubblefield to help shore up the backfield.
Out of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Prairie View will look to stay competitive as they will be seeking a winning season.
For Rice, winning football is something they haven’t experienced as of late but hope to find some success under first-year head coach Mike Bloomgren, who was brought in from Stanford as they look to turn their football program around.
Expecting to use the same blueprint he used at Stanford as an assistant, Bloomgren will lean heavily on a trio of running backs to bring a physical attack to the offense. Running backs Emmanuel Esupka, Nahshon Ellerbe and Austin Walter will anchor the offense carrying the ball with playmaker receiver Aaron Cephus ready to make some big plays downfield. Question is… who will be the starting quarterback once the Owls take the field?
Out of Conference USA, the Owls can only go up after having a dreadful 2017 season.
Looking to build on anything out the gate to gain some confidence, Rice is predicted to have their way with Prairie View who are lacking the talent on the offensive end to compete. We shall see come game time for this PVAMU vs. RICE matchup, but for sports betting purposes from our best sportsbooks, let’s what the odds bring us before laying down our best CFB betting pick.
