Head coach Gregg Popovich and his Spurs were dealt a major blow with the news on Thursday that longtime veteran and floor general Tony Parker will be lost for the remainder of the 2017 postseason after suffering a ruptured left quadriceps tendon. The injury occurred at the 8:52 mark of the fourth quarter on Wednesday with the Spurs comfortably ahead in what was a 121-96 trouncing of the Rockets; payback from a 126-99 blowout defeat of their own in Game 1.

And while the Spurs were expected to bounce back in Game 2 after a dismal performance in the series opener, how will they adjust and respond the rest of the way as the series shifts to H-Town for Games 3 and 4?

The Rockets did what was needed in taking one on the road and now with the series tied one apiece, will Houston be able to take advantage of what will be an emotional San Antonio team taking the court without their fallen leader?

Parker missed 19 games during the regular season, but this one has to hurt when it counts most. In place of Parker will be reserve Patty Mills as he will asked to fill some very big shoes. Nonetheless, the Spurs will center their offense around their MVP in Kawhi Leonard.

For Houston, they have a chance to deliver the knockout punch over the next two games, but will need to get their own MVP in James Harden back on track. Harden had a dismal shooting performance in Game 2 with just 13 points on 3 for 17 shooting.

Game 4 will be back in Houston on Sunday.

After stealing momentum back with their win, the injury to Parker knocked the wind out of them, so let’s see if they right the ship the rest of the way. For sports betting purposes for our US players, MyBookie is favoring HOU (-4.5) points over SA with an over/under of 214.5 total game points scored.

Staying with the home team against a shorthanded Spurs team, I will favor the Rockets MINUS the points (-4.5) over San Antonio as my best betting pick.
