In what will be one of the better games of this college bowl season, the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic may be just that… a classic, as the No. 8 USC Trojans and No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes will square off at AT&T Stadium on Friday night in primetime as the betting lines from our best online sportsbooks is as follow;

Two powerhouse football teams at 11-2 will seek to cap off a successful season by adding win No. 12 to their resume and along with it a Cotton Bowl title.
With both teams shunned from punching their ticket to the College Football Playoffs; USC winners of the Pac-12 championship and Ohio State the Big Ten champion, will meet for the first time since 2009 as the Men of Troy are in the midst of a seven game win streak against the Buckeyes.
After a rocky road when former head coach Pete Carroll bolted for the NFL, the Trojans appear to have found some stability under current head coach Clay Helton where they now have double digit wins for the first time since 2007 and 2008.
USC is lead by the tandem duo of QB Sam Darnold and RB Ronald Jones II. Darnold on the year has thrown for 3,787 yards with 26 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. Jones has rushed for 1,486 yards with 18 touchdowns.
As a team, the Trojans are scoring 34.5 points on 489.5 yards per game, while allowing 26.3 points on 404.8 yards per game.
Ohio State, however has plenty of sock of their own as they are led by the talents of quarterback J.T. Barrett and running back J.K. Dobbins. On the season, Barrett has thrown for 2,939 yards with 35 touchdowns to nine picks. Dobbins has rushed for 1,364 yards with seven touchdowns.
On offense, the Buckeyes are rolling up 42.5 points on a whopping 523.6 yards per game and possess a well-balanced attack. But, it’s the defense that also shines for this team as they are yielding 19.9 points on just 292.3 yards per contest.
Two teams who pack plenty of punch on offense, this may be a game where it’s the defense that makes the difference when it counts? For sports betting purposes for our US players, MyBookie is favoring OSU (-7.5) points over USC, while 5Dimes is giving the underdog Trojans (+8) points.
BetOnline delivers the over/under with 65.0 total game points scored; a number I will play as I will favor the UNDER of 65.0 total game points scored as my best betting pick.
